First Day Procedures
The first day of school for the new school year will be Tuesday, September 7th, 2010. Our school hours will change to 8:30 a.m-3:00 p.m. (student entry at 8:15).
On the first day of school, parents may accompany their child to the school. At 8:30 the large outside gym doors will be opened and we would ask you to enter the gym through these doors only.
Class lists will be posted on the gym walls. You will need to look for your child’s grade and then find his/her name on one of the class lists for that grade. Non-homeroom teachers, wearing orange duty sashes, will be in the gym should you require assistance.
Students should line up with the teacher, and be ready to follow instructions. At approximately 8:45, teachers will take attendance and then lead students to their new classroom. we remind you that, on this first day, parents should say their goodbyes either in the yard outside the gym or in the gym. Parents should not accompany students to their classrooms.
Beside the class list will be a simple map identifying the door which students will be using to enter and exit the school each day. Students and parents should take note of this entry/exit door. At the end of the first day you may meet your child outside his/her designated door. Before taking your child with you at the end of the day, please be sure to let the teacher know that you are leaving. When all walkers have been met, the teachers will be assisting bus students with finding the correct bus.
