Community Events & Fundraising
Normally, there’s always something going on at ACES -dances, cake raffles, BBQ, and more! Part of what makes school life enjoyable for both students and their families are the fun, community-building events that everyone can take part in together, such as the ones coordinated and hosted by ACES School Council throughout the school year!
|

|
In compliance with the Ministry of Education’s Return to School Guidelines during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only staff and students are permitted inside schools. In an effort to keep all ACES community members safe, no in-person events will take place within the school building during the 2020-2021 school year.

Did you know that there are expenses at school that are not always covered by our taxes or the school's budget? Buses for field trips, play structures, special performances, enrichment workshops, and guest speakers are not always fully funded by the school board. In an effort to enrich the learning environment as well as student life at school, ACES School Council coordinates a series of fun events that serve to raise funds as well as build community across ACES staff, students and their families. These activities are aimed to support extra-curricular initiatives for students and families, and help make our school more than just a building.

ACES School Council Cake Walk Event
Just a reminder that ACES School Council Cake Walk will be on February 13th 2023. The Cake Walk will raise money for outstanding wish list items for our teachers' classrooms and for the end of the year BBQ. We need more cakes!! Volunteers to donate nut free cakes/cupcakes and non edible cakes are needed! Tickets will be 3 for 1$ and students can purchase them from February 6th to 10th 2023. Please send exact change. More info to come on how the tickets will be purchased. To donate a cake or if you have any questions please email [email protected] For more detailed information about the cake walk please refer to the email sent out on January 16th 2023.

Did you know that not all students are lucky enough to start their school day with the same foot forward as everyone else. There are kids who are already behind before they even step into the classroom. When you make a donation to the Education Foundation of Ottawa, you are creating possibilities for the children in our city. School gives children the chance to reach beyond what they’ve been given. The education they receive unlocks the possibility to get somewhere better. Your donations make learning possible for all students, inside and outside of the classroom.

This year, all of the members of ACES Kindness Council (a group of both in-person and OCV students) have voted to support TOONIE TUESDAY to raise at least $500 on behalf of Ottawa’s EDUCATION FOUNDATION by Tuesday, February 23rd.
Please help us achieve our goal by donating a toonie either in person, or through School Cash Online and have a chance at winning an ACES swag bag (see details below). Every dollar counts!

Do you love being a member of the ACES community? Why not wear your heart on your sleeve - or chest, back, leg, or hat? The latest line of ACES swag and spirit wear is now available online year-round, 24 hours a day, and allows you to customize colour, logo size, edition and position, and even personalize certain articles with your name on them. Customize clothing and accessories in the style you prefer and show your ACES Spirit!

|
Once $1000 worth of purchases of ACES swag have been made, the school will receive 10% of the profits - all of which will go directly back to supporting student needs. The first priority for monies generated from spirit wear sales is to purchase new and updated ACES team jerseys and uniforms. Order here: https://aces.entripyshops.com/
|
Please note the purchase of ACES apparel is optional. All orders and payments are made online through https://aces.entripyshops.com/ and are shipped directly to your home. In like, any issues or questions with ordering will be addressed by the company, rather than the school.

Direction of Funds
Where does the money go?
All of the monies raised by ACES School Council are spent in support of our children's learning experience, and enriching the school community. These include, but are not limited to, schoolyard equipment such as basketball hoops, musical instruments, winter sleds, busing for class field trips as well as for clubs and activities, Scientists in School, funding to bring in arts events into the school, purchasing of iPads, robots, and Chromebooks, and responding to ad hoc teacher requests for supplemental learning tools.
In the spirit of community, in past years ACES School Council has also shared funds with “sister schools” within the OCDSB that do not have the benefit of having an active school council to help raise funds for their schools.
For detailed accounts of where funds raised by ACES School Council have been allocated, please see the Minutes section of the School Council website.
